It feels like every day there's a new controversy involving either President Donald Trump or his family, and the latest comes after Ivanka Trump tweeted a photo of herself sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office.

She's been branded "unethical" for posting the snap, that sees her wedged in-between her father and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, with the caption: "A great discussion with two world leaders about the importance of women having a seat at the table".

Outraged social media users pointed out that America still hasn't given women a seat at that particular table by electing their first female President, while others questioned what she was even doing in the office at the time.

"It is inappropriate and unethical for you to attend these meetings. We will find out about the legality soon enough," DBagChron tweeted.

Another user wrote: "What the hell are you doing in a meeting with a foreign leader????"

"@IvankaTrump you did nothing to gain that seat at the table other than being born to a rich father with a tie that's too long," Steven Horowitz said.

Bob Clendenin also tweeted: "Lord, how many "bring your daughter to work" days is this administration going to have?"

Ivanka Trump said:

One woman called Ivanka a "little twit" because "the first woman photographed in that seat should be the one who's earned it."

However, others quickly jumped to the mother's side and pointed out what the reaction would be if Obama posted a picture of his wife and daughters in the seat.

Jennifer Delora tweeted back: "it's a photo op, nothing else. Did you say the same when Michelle or her girls were in there? Didn't think so.”

"Obama had his mother-in-law living in the White House with them. Funny no one ever talk about that,” another woman wrote.

Lib said: "@IvankaTrump Your strength & resiliency in face of vile hatred, bigotry, & sexism of the unhinged Left is a daily inspiration! Love you!"

One user even tweeted a photo of a boy sitting in the big seat when Barack was in power.

The suave first daughter has been labelled a “FLOTUS substitute” - First Lady of the United States - due to her dominating the stage during her father's campaign.

Just two weeks ago, Ivanka was scrutinised for tweeting a picture of a $6,600 dress she was wearing to a black tie event amid immigration chaos and protests.

People immediately took to social media to decry the fact that she and her husband, Jared Kushner, showed off fancy attire while the lives and security of refugees were in question - as her father had just implemented his travel ban.

Quickly, the hashtag #lethemeatcake popped up on social media, as people compared Ivanka - and by association, the entire Trump family - to Marie Antoinette.
