Janet Jackson gives birth aged 50

Singer Janet Jackson has given birth to her first baby.

The singer, aged 50, welcomed the newborn on January 3 along with her husband Wissam Al Mana, 42.

"Janet Jackson and husband Wissam Al Mana are thrilled to welcome their new son Eissa Al Mana into the world," Janet's rep revealed in a statement.

"Janet had a stress-free healthy delivery and is resting comfortably."

The younger sister of the late Michael Jackson first sparked pregnancy speculation when she postponed her world tour in April, explaining she and her husband were “planning our family.”

Then in October last year she went public, debuting her bump in a photo shoot for People magazine, and revealing she and her husband “thank God for our blessing”.

Janet met her billionaire real estate developer partner Wissam at hotel opening in Dubai in 2010, according to reports, and they married two years later in 2012.

Janet's older brother Jermaine, 62, has said he thinks she'll be the perfect mother to her child.

"She'll be a great mother because she is very tough, very strict," he told People in an interview late last year.

"But I tell her, 'If you need any parenting skills or baby skills, let me know because I'm the best diaper changer there is on this planet, still to this day.'"
