After rocking the 63rd Eurovision stage during the second semi-final round, Australia’s Jessica Mauboy has now made it into the final 10 heading into the grand final taking place at Lisbon’s Altice Arena in Portugal.
The 28-year-old wowed the viewers after singing an original piece, We Got Love, and unlike other performances, which were prop-heavy, Jess went out there with no dancers, no special effects, just her, her killer voice and her energetic dance-moves.
The Aussie-born songstress will next compete against some amazing talent from Norway, Denmark, Slovenia, Serbia, Moldova, Hungary, Ukraine, The Netherlands and Sweden.
“She’s got a great song, it’s a real banger,” SBS Eurovision host Myf Warhurst said. “It’s got a nice sentiment as well.”
“It’s about overcoming obstacles and it feels like a celebration of everything we’ve achieved this year with same-sex marriage passing.”
“It’s a huge thrill that people across Europe have taken We Got Love to their hearts,” Jess said in an official statement.
“I am so excited and really looking forward to sharing the stage with some great artists in the Grand Final.”
Jessica was first noticed at the age of 14 when she performed at the Tamworth country music festival.
She then went on to be the runner-up of popular show Australian Idol in 2006, and has since forged a successful music career.
Jessica’s grand final performance will air on Sunday at 5am on SBS.
