Jim Carrey's worryingly bizarre interview

Jim Carrey has left fans scratching their heads after giving a bizarre interview on the red carpet for New York Fashion Week.

The comedian, who was dressed in an outlandish suit, began acting up when E! News’s Cat Sadler approached him for an interview.

At first Catt appeared thrilled to see Jim at the fashion event but things got very weird very quickly when the actor began circling the interviewer.

After circling her twice – much like a lion circling its prey – the actor then told her: “There’s no meaning to any of this. I wanted to find the most meaningless thing I could come to and join and here I am.”

Ever the professional, Catt kept the interview going.

“They’re celebrating icons inside, do you believe in icons?” she asked the clearly uninterested star.

“Boy, that is just the absolute lowest-aiming possibility that we could come up with. I don’t believe that you exist but there is a lovely fragrance in the air,” Jim told her.

He then broke into a James Brown impression leaving Catt high and dry.

But she wasn’t giving up that easily and asked him: “But Jim, you got really dressed up for the occasion, you look good.”

“I didn’t get dressed up,” Jim said. “There is no me. There’s just things happening.”

This world, he added, is “not our world.”

“We don’t matter,” he said, before squeezing Catt’s shoulder and walking away.

Some fans have suggested that Jim was simply in character as he’s reportedly set to play psychedelic astronaut Terence McKenna in an upcoming film.
