John Cena reveals Nikki Bella 'broke his heart'

Professional wrestler, turned actor, John Cena has revealed the real reason he and Nikki Bella split.

Appearing on Today in the US overnight, the 41-year-old revealed to hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford that their breakup had been “very difficult”.

“I had my heart broken out of nowhere, or, for me, it was out of nowhere, and anyone who’s experienced that knows that it comes with a series of bad feelings,” he said.

The superstar couple announced their breakup in April, a year after the incredible proposal which sealed the deal.

“I’ve looked at myself every day, and I’ve tried to evaluate myself every day, and the woman I love,” he told the co-hosts.

The Blockers star, who was vehemently against children and getting married again, seems to have had a change of heart.

“For anyone out there speculating on what I’m doing with my life now: I still love Nicole. I would still love to marry Nicole. I still would love to have a family with Nicole,” John said.

Nikki was caught off guard later-on when appearing at a NBC Universal red carpet event.

When asked about the interview, the 34-year-old said she hadn’t seen it and was subsequently read a transcript.

“Wow, well, I’m speechless,” she said. “Um, yeah, that’s crazy. Yeah.” (WATCH the video below)

She then elaborated on her broken engagement.

“I didn’t think cold feet and all of that type of stuff existed, but it exists,” she said.

“I have hope and I’m just at a point in my life where I feel like I kind’ve lost me, and I want to find me and work on me.”
