However, the reason as to why he looks so different may have been unveiled.

It was reported by Empire last year the actor was set to star in Richard Says Goodbye.

The film is about a university professor who is given a life altering “terminal diagnosis” and turns to drink, drugs and smoking.

So, Johnny’s dramatic new look may be down to some serious method acting.

Some fans certainly think so.

The release date for Richard Says Goodbye is yet to be confirmed, but is expected to be some time later this year.
