MKR judges Pete and Colin disagree on semi-final dish
Pete Evans and Colin Fassnidge came to blows tonight as the teams on My Kitchen Rules fought it out for a spot in the grand-finals this Sunday.
In tonight’s nail-biting episode we saw contestants Stella and Jazzy and Alex and Emily face-off in one of the most intense cook-offs the series has seen.
But it wasn’t just the judges battling it out, as Pete and Colin disagreed on Alex and Emily’s main dish of mussels and pippis with nahm prik pao.
“There’s something that’s toying with me,” Colin said to the judges. “Is it enough for a semi-final?”
“They made a broth with some shellfish.”
“I would have liked a bit more saltiness, maybe some more fish sauce,” Karen Martini said. “Just so it balances out that sweetness.”
Pete however did not agree with Colin or Karen telling them he though it was a stand out main.
“I think you guys are being really harsh,” he told them. “I disagree that its too sweet, I think it’s a perfect dish.”
“The sweetness is actually the star of this dish,” he snapped back.
“We don’t all have to agree,” Karen said, while the two chefs enjoyed a salty exchange.
Regardless of what the judges felt, luck was on Alex and Emily’s side, with the pair wining the night with a score of 53 out of 60. It was the highest score received during a semi-final.
The win left friends Stella and Jazzey packing their bags and heading back to Western Australia.
It means on Sunday we’ll see Kim and Suong and Stella and Jazzey go head-to-head in the finals and find out who will be crowned MKR winner and walk away with the $250,000 prize money.
Tune in Sunday for the My Kitchen Rules finale at 7pm on Seven.
