Karl Stefanovic calls Prince George and Princess Charlotte 'aliens'

Karl Stefanovic is well known for having a loose tongue.

But the Today host may have overstepped the mark earlier, when he called little Prince George and Princess Charlotte “aliens” during a segment about the new royal baby.

When talking about the adorable footage of Prince William entering the famous Lindo Wing maternity hospital with his two eldest kids who are visibly excited to meet their newborn brother, Karl controversially said their behaviour wasn’t normal.

“A lot of people got very angry at me, but I do think they’re fake kids,” he said. “Because I don’t think I’ve ever seen a kid who is this well behaved walk into any kind of establishment.”

“I don’t want to be disrespectful, but they could be aliens,” he continued, much to his co-host Deborah Knight and Sylvia Jeffreys’ horror.

“You are being disrespectful,” Deborah Knight replied.

The clip in question has gone viral because of the totally sweet way Charlotte, who is about to turn three, waved and smiled for the waiting cameras.

At the same time, four-year-old George — who was wearing his school uniform — avoided eye contact with the hordes of press gathered outside St. Mary’s Hospital.

“But who behaves like that,” the 43-year-old said, as his host agreed the young kids were “very, very reserved”.

“They’re not like your average Aussie kids,” Georgie said, pointing out their calm nature could be because there was a “basket of chocolate” waiting for them inside.

Will and Kate welcomed their third child, a boy, at 11.01am yesterday, with Kensington Palace confirming the news via Twitter.

Since then, royal baby fever has reached peak highs as people swoon over the bundle of joy, who is yet to be named.
