Karl Stefanovic teased about Uber scandal on live TV
Karl Stefanovic endured an awkward moment live on TV earlier this morning, when he was teased by a guest over his Uber scandal.
The Today host was presenting a news piece about the car sharing service’s new ‘pool’ option, that allows users to share their Uber with a fellow passenger.
That’s when radio host Neil Mitchell decided to refer to the Stefanovic mishap in one of their cabs, suggesting UberPool probably wouldn’t be a good choice for him with his and brother Peter’s history.
“Just imagine you after a quiet lunch…” Neil began.
Despite Karl jumping in to divert the topic, the 3AW host continued.
“And in an Uber with six other people, chatting happily — you couldn’t make phone calls…” he said. “You couldn’t ring your brother and have a chat.”
LOL.
Karl, 44, kept his cool, agreeing that the service wasn’t something he’d be interested because they “can’t be trusted”.
But when Neil tried to steer the conversation back on topic, addressing the fact that surge prices were a big issue, viewers witnessed a lingering awkward silence.
“No way,” Karl eventually offered up, but there apparently was no coming back from the earlier jibing.
In March an epic rant the TV presenter had to his younger brother Peter, who was in the back of an Uber, was leaked, resulting in him being forced to apologise to his co-host Georgie Gardner.
Since then, he’s been rumoured to have been concerned about his reputation, particularly as he has been looked over for a Logie this year.
However his relationship with Jasmine Yarbrough is going from strength-to-strength after he left his wife of 21 years in 2016.
