Karl Stefanovic's royal wedding prank on Sam Armytage

They’re both breakfast television rivals on the ground in London, battling it out for the best coverage of the royal wedding.

And what better way to set the tone for the weekend ahead, than with a good old cheeky prank.

Nova FM’s Fitzy and Wippa challenged Karl to ring Sam and let her know that he’d been upgraded to a lavish penthouse suite overlooking Buckingham Palace.

The Today host happily obliged, and what happened next is just brilliant.

Firstly the 43-year-old told Sunrise hosts Sam he wanted to acknowledge the reports of them feuding are a ‘load of rubbish’.

And then he suggested a way to silence the gossip mill once and for all.

“I got upgraded to this terrific penthouse which is right on the top level. It’s got an outdoor spa and a pool and bar and ping pong tables. It’s unbelievable,” he began.

“I just thought we’d get everyone around and have like a drink and sort of break bread and get a few photos and send them out on social media.

“You can see Buckingham Palace, you can see everything. It’d just be nice to get the Aussies all together and have a nice time. What do you reckon?”

“Like in the spa, do you think?” Sam innocently responded.

“Uh, well I don’t know about the spa,” a shocked Karl then said.

Now by this stage, radio hosts Fitzy and Wippa couldn’t contain their laughter, and Sam picked up that this was all a bit of an on-air prank.

Karl says for the record, there’s no feud between the brekkie hosts.

We’ll just have to see how it all goes come Saturday, when the networks zoom in for their best shots when Meghan Markle walks down the aisle.
