Kate Middleton reveals how to pronounce royal baby name
He’s the newest addition to the British royal family, and the world has completely fallen head-over-heels for Kate Middleton and Prince William’s adorable son, Louis.
But while the couple finally put the world out of their misery by announcing their new arrival’s moniker – Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge – last week, there’s still one thing that needs to be cleared up.
How to pronounce Louis.
There are a few ways to say the name, with the French version seeing it said ‘Loo-ee’, while another way pronounced as Lewis.
While the Duke and Duchess have yet to publicly confirm the pronunciation, Louis is one of Wills’ middle names, and some observant royal watchers have remembered Kate saying it out loud at their 2011 royal wedding.
In a clip from the couple’s big day, a nervous-looking and softly-spoken Kate can be heard saying her hubby-to-be’s full name – William Arthur Philip Louis – in her vows, and clearly pronouncing it ‘Loo-ee’.
It’s not just his dad that little Louis has been reportedly named after, with the moniker also said to pay tribute to Louis Mountbatten, Prince Philip’s uncle and Prince Charles’ beloved great uncle.
“[He’s] the grandfather I never had,” Prince Charles has said in the past.
