Kate Middleton's perfect post-baby hair sparks debate
All eyes were on the smallest member of the royal family yesterday, as Prince William and Kate Middleton’s third child — a second son — gave his debut royal wave to the nation.
But eagle-eyed fans were equally as fascinated by something else entirely: Middleton’s camera-ready locks.
Less than seven hours after welcoming the fifth in line to the throne, the 36-year-old emerged from behind the Lindo Wing’s swinging doors for her third post-birth photo call.
Clad in a poppy-red dress by Jenny Packham, the duchess greeted a sea of photographers with her trademark smile and gorgeous hair.
The woman behind the job? Her longtime hairdresser, Amanda Cook Tucker.
And royals fans took to Twitter to congratulate the Duchess of Cambridge on both her newborn son and her inimitable post-birth look.
One Twitter user took to the social media platform to joke that they’d be asking for “Kate Middleton post-baby hair” next time they book a hairdresser’s appointment. Another dubbed the mother of three a “hero” for her quick turnover.
Kate Middleton is really about to strut out of the hospital in full hair and makeup after giving birth to her 3rd child like it ain’t a big thing. She’s a true hero. I want to be just like her.

#KateMiddleton‘s hair looks better after giving birth than mine does two minutes into my morning commute

Kate Middleton really gave birth, got cleaned up, hair and makeup done, put on heels and posed with her newborn for paps and reporters?
I know she’s a duchess but like what a QUEEN— Rocio (@rosyohh) April 23, 2018
Kate Middleton gave birth, got dressed up, put on makeup and waved to a nation mere hours later. I waited 4 hours just to straighten my hair this morning.

In the time it took #KateMiddleton to have her baby, get her hair done and leave the hospital, I brushed my teeth and debated whether to change out of yesterday’s yoga pants. Royals, they’re so not like us. #RoyalBaby https://t.co/wLcJco1ZjI

Kate Middleton is such a machine. Not even 12 hours after having her baby and she’s dressed, made up, hair done and smiling for the cameras, new born in arm.
Just thinking about giving birth makes me want to take 6 months off

Poor Kate Middleton. Girl has to go out in front of the media with hair done and a full face in heels 7 minutes after pushing a human out of her vagina. I’d never be able to do that ever. She’s a hero.

But does the duchess’s post-birth aesthetic send the wrong message to expectant mothers?
Am I the only one that thinks that pulling Kate Middleton out of bed, doing her hair and makeup, dressing her up, and then propping her up for a photo shoot immediately after giving birth is a really problematic image to be sending to women? #royalbaby

Holy cow – when I had a baby I sloped around for at least a wk in my pants, milk spraying left right & centre, eating about 500 cookies and without even thinking about brushing my hair. And Kate Middleton is expected to parade around in a fancy dress & heels?! Give her a break!!

Kate Middleton had the baby 7 hours prior to this photo. She has a full face, hair and wardrobe done, and yes she looks great, but this should not be expected of women. https://t.co/R4Wrvb1hpe

Bottom line: It’s easy to admire a flawless ‘do — but keep those expectations in check.
