Terrifying moment topless shoot goes very wrong
Posing for a half-naked photoshoot is always a little precarious, but things went terrifyingly wrong for Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton when she was shooting for the magazine in Aruba.
The 25-year-old, who rocketed to international stardom thanks to her fabulous curves, was standing on a large rock in the middle of a the beach when things turned sour.
Topless and wearing only a pair of bikini bottoms and a tulle train, she was pushed clean off the rock as a strong wave rolled through and swept her into the ocean.
In dramatic footage of the moment shared by Sports Illustrated on Instagram, an assistant is seen trying to hold onto her hand as the wave sweeps through, but she loses her footing and falls.
Fortunately, she doesn’t hit her head on the rocks and crew members rush in to help.
“I felt like I was laughing in the face of death,” she tells the magazine.
“Looking back, that probably should have been a moment when we photoshopped me on there.”
The beach in Aruba, a small Caribbean island off the coast of Venezuela, is signposted as a ‘no swimming’ zone.
Kate was shooting for the 2018 edition of Sports Illustrated’s annual Swimsuit Issue, after she made her debut on the cover of the mag back in 2012 when she was just 19.
