Afterpay works by customers paying for their purchases over four installments. If you pay on time, you’ll have nothing else to fork out, but if you miss a payment, you’ll be charged a late fee.

“At Kmart, we’re on a mission to make everyday living brighter for our customers, by making products more accessible for everyone,” a spokesperson told Be.

The news caused a wave of excitement across social media, with customers ecstatic that they will be able to shop at the store and pay for their items over time.

“If Kmart get Afterpay I honestly will be broke for the rest of my life,” one person said.

“Kmart x afterpay can I get a hell yeah I can’t to wait to buy rugs and fragrance diffusers and fake plants,” another fan said.

Others said they were already worried about how much money they were going to spend once Afterpay drops. The date has not yet been announced.

However, some people couldn’t see the allure of Afterpay when it comes to shopping at Kmart.

“Kmart being on Afterpay is a joke. If you can’t afford outright Kmart you probably shouldn’t be spending money AT. ALL. (sic)” one person tweeted.

“I don’t understand the appeal of Afterpay with Kmart like Kmart is cheap… why do you need Afterpay for their items? Plus you end up replacing their items anyway so you may as well have bought the higher end product,” another Twitter user said.
