Leading island resort to reopen in 2015

One of the leading resorts of the world, Lizard Island, is set to reopen in Queensland – and there are exciting new additions to the accommodation.

Following the impact of Cyclone Ita, Lizard Island had undergone 12 months of refurbishment and rebuilding. The popular destination has made incredible changes with exciting new additions to the resort.

The luxury resort is set to reopen on 1 March, 2015.

The newly established stand alone suite, The Villa, will offer two bedrooms both with ensuites, the master with a luxury bath, a butler’s kitchen, plunge pool and wrap around deck, overlooking the Sunset Beach and the Coral Sea.

The Pavilion, Lizard Island’s most popular suite, will continue to feature a private gazebo and plunge pool with the added benefit of a separate lounge room to allow guests to enjoy the panoramic views of the Coral Sea.

A highly experienced and creative team, OPV Architects and Hecker Gutherie, has been hired to redesign the resort. The firm purposefully incorporates the stunning views from its surrounding environment and combines colours from the Reef including coral, blue and gold.

This design theme is reflected throughout the resort, including the resort’s famous Australian gourmet cuisine and superb wine list.

A wine and cheese room has been added, with the kitchen to be open plan for guests to interact with the Executive Chef and their team.

The Island’s spa has also received a makeover with additional spaces to allow more treatments. It also offers a room dedicated to manicures and pedicures.

The new design and activities allows guests to take advantage of this naturally spectacular Queensland location.
