10 Ways Prince Harry Is Strikingly Similar to Princess Diana

Whenever Prince Harry steps out in public, everyone immediately wants to talk about what he's wearing and how he's interacting with Meghan Markle. But what so many miss is just how much the Duke of Sussex is living just like his mom, Princess Diana, did.

Upon closer inspection, the two royals are extremely alike - a lot more than most realize. Take a look at the mannerisms, passions, and personality traits that the two share:

Over the years, Prince Harry has been known to break royal protocol, from asking his brother Will to be the best man at his wedding to being affection with Meghan Markle while on royal duty. Likewise, Diana was also a rule-bender. Some of her notable acts of rebellion include picking her own engagement ring from a catalog and writing her own feminist wedding vows.

While it might not be obvious all the time, the two have strikingly similar features, which are most evident when they smile. On Twitter, fans have long noted how much they look like twins. Royal enthusiasts have pointed out that Harry's nephew, Prince George, also looks like his grandma.

Moments after Meghan Markle walked down the aisle, Harry bit down on his lip and told her that she "looks amazing." As Susan Constantine, a human behavioral expert and author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Reading Body Language, noted to GoodHousekeeping.com at the time, this was a "micro-expression" that his mom often did on a number of occasions.

Both Harry and Diana have spent much of their time dedicated to those in need. According to the royal's website, the Duke is currently involved in several organizations, including the Invictus Games Foundation, Rugby Football Union Injured Players Foundation, Sentebale, The Royal Foundation, and Well Child. Diana, meanwhile, was the patron of The Leprosy Mission and Centrepoint, and went on countless hospital visits to offer comfort to those suffering.

In her famous solo interview with the BBC, Diana spoke extremely candidly about her struggles with postpartum depression, dealing with the affair between Charles and Camilla, and her tumultuous marriage. Harry has also been very frank with journalists before, liked when he talked to reporters about "seeking counsel" and enduring "two years of chaos" after Diana's death.

In 1997, Diana headed to Angola to protest the use of landmines. To bring attention to the issue, she risked her own safety and walked through a cleared minefield. By 2013, Harry had visited minefields in Angola and Mozambique, and four years later joined the HALO Trust to advocate that all landmines be cleared by 2025.

Diana embarked on many trips to the continent. There, she met with Nelson Mandela, teamed up with Red Cross to help amputees, and challenged stigmas about HIV/AIDs. Her work there became special to her, just as the continent has become a meaningful place for her son. In 1997, right after his mother's death, Harry told Town & Country that he feels more like himself there "than anywhere in the world." He has since visited several times, including with Meghan.

Prince Harry clearly has a soft spot for kids - even when they try to steal his popcorn, like this little cutie. He's often seen being very animated and having all sorts of fun with them. Past photos of Diana with Harry and Will show the People's Princess having a blast with her kids too, whether it be at an amusement park or outside at a playground.

Their list of famous faces might differ, but Harry and Diana have definitely had their fair share of big-name interactions. As if his charitable efforts and acts of kindness don't already give you a sense of the type of person Harry is, a royal correspondent told Cosmopolitan UK that the prince is "very down-to-earth" and extremely "honest." When giving a speech on the 10th anniversary of his mother's passing, Prince Harry himself used a few similar words to describe Diana. "What is far more important to us now is how she is remembered as she was: fun-loving, generous, down-to-earth, entirely genuine."
