The Queen has been sending tweets again

She might be 90-years-old, but the Queen isn’t letting technology get the best of her.

Following her recent birthday, the Monarch took to Twitter to express her gratitude to fans who wished her well, posting the message: “I am most grateful for the many digital messages of goodwill I have received and would like to thank you all for your kindness. Elizabeth R.”

Apparently the Queen typed the message on an iPad, proving that she’s more technology-proficient than most adults over the age of 60.

The tweet was sent via The Royal Family account, which confirmed afterwards, “This tweet was personally sent by Her Majesty The Queen.”

As if you needed further proof, an accompanying image of Her Majesty sitting beside an ornate table shows her carefully pressing buttons on an iPad.

This isn’t the first time the Queen has used Twitter though, with Lewis Wiltshire, Senior Director of Media Partnerships with Twitter UK, emphasisng the fact.

“It's really exciting to see The Queen directly respond to the Great British public for their birthday wishes on the platform with her second ever Tweet,” he said.

We can’t wait to see if she’ll be joining Snapchat soon.

In the meantime, the rest of the royal family remain fairly active on social media, particularly Prince William, who recently spoke out about cyberbullying.

“A lot is said publically about the challenges that new technologies – particularly the Internet – can create for people, in terms of the spread of extremism, invasions into our privacy, and the security of our data.

“But while new technology can of course create new problems, it is my belief that innovation in technology is a force for good, and that these advancements can do a lot more good than the harm that is often talked about,” he said.
