Ever been typing a descriptive text about your breakfast to your bestie and *really* needed the bacon emoji, only having to resort to using the pig? Yeah, thought so. Well, we have some ~exciting~ news for you – the latest batch of emojis have been released, and they happen to include a sizzling strip of your favourite meat.

Unicode Consortium, the official body responsible for setting a standard of characters across the computing industry, officially released 72 additional emojis today. Hooray! But we won’t be able to get busy with them until Apple installs them on the iPhone (hopefully soon).
Amongst the long overdue icons are a facepalm, a fingers-crossed emoji and an avocado. As a rightful stand against recent gun violence in the US, the rifle emoji, which was meant to be released with the rest of the icons, has thankfully been removed.
But that’s not all folks - apparently a new feature for iPhone is also getting released that will highlight words you’ve typed and suggest emoji replacements. Basically, we’ll all be texting in emojis only soon if Apple has it’s way (which, let’s be real, don't they always?).
Welcome to the future, peeps.
