Fitness blogger body shamed for wearing minidress to wedding

Unfortunately, mean girls don’t just exist in the form of Regina George and her fictional posse – turns out RL women are still throwing shade at their fellow sex, too, with New Zealand fitness instructor, Liz Krueger, sharing the body shaming comments she received for wearing a tight bandage dress to a wedding.

After being outrightly mocked at the nuptials, Liz posted a photo from the event to Instagram, voicing her disbelief at the reaction it sparked.

She captioned the pic: “If only I knew that choosing this dress for a wedding on a 90 degree day meant so many women would be outrightly rude to me, and even come up behind me to slap my a*s as I'm standing alone [sic],' she wrote next to the snap.

“As quote "it was a dare from her friends, bc I was a target". And then proceed to spill a full beer down my arm. Just one of maaaaany acts of kindness of the night [sic].

'Yup. That happened. Good thing for thick skin, being able to laugh at things and not take it personally, and good friends/hubby by my side #adultsarebullystoo [sic].”

The post has gone viral and garnered a trove of support from women uniting against body shaming. The supporters have even been using a #kruegerKindness hashtag to inspire women to be kind to each other.

One woman wrote, “The behaviour of the other women is disgusting. I’d be more concerned about being associated with people like them than a friend who wore this dress!”

Another wrote, "I personally wouldn't wear this, but no one has the right to treat anyone else with distaste at all. It's not your wedding or your business or your body so bugger off. My daughter just got married in February and I would be disgusted if any of my guests were treated in this way for what they chose to wear. It doesn't effect you."

Amen sista.

We couldn’t applaud the support it's rallied more. Regardless of whether you think the dress is appropriate or not, bullying is never okay. We don't think a slightly off-kilter male outfit (whether it be a low-cut shirt or skin tight pants) would evoke the same reaction.
