The most unusual jobs you never knew actually existed

Most jobs are fairly monotonous, pretty standard and let's admit it, downright boring.

However a new thread on Reddit has revealed the jobs that are anything but normal, with people revealing the weird and wacky jobs they do while the rest of us are slugging away at the 9-5.

One Reddit user revealed that he recently met a man on holidays who he thought had the best job in the world.

"I met a professional alpaca shaver when I was on holiday last month. He told me he gets about $35 per shaved alpaca," he said.

Another commenter said he lives in Vegas and has a job you would never think is real.

"I compose music and design sound effects for slots. I live in Vegas, but still, few people outside of the slot industry know my job exists," he said.

"Makes for a bit of interesting conversation."

If you ever wondered how there was never a lightbulb on the blink when you were in university, well it turns out there's a guy whose job is to specifically make sure they don't blow.

'My entire job responsibility is to change lightbulbs around campus," he said.

"A normal shift for me involves driving out to two or three buildings and replacing all the lightbulbs in the building, whether they're burnt out or not. I do it on a rotating six month schedule. I'm also on call if there are any lightbulbs reported as burned out.

"I don't fix broken ballasts or sockets, that job belongs to someone else. I only replace bulbs."

According to Reddit users, there's also a person who's hired to make food in advertisements look appetising, called a food stylist and another claims there's an office in India dedicated to removing staples and scanning documents.

"Hundreds of people are employed there," he said.

Another commenter said: "There are guys on call 24-7 to pick up organs from a donor at the hospital and drive it to the airport. I know a guy who did this for years and made bank. He had a special id to show to police if he was caught speeding."

In perhaps one of the most disturbing stories relayed on the site, one person claimed they are an underwear cockroach inspector.

"Guy or gal in a factory, inspecting garments for insects before they get shipped out to the retailers. It's a thing," they said.

Also among the bizarre jobs is a person employed to drive people with a fear of bridges over it in their own vehicles, a facade engineer who abseils down buildings to check them out and a foley artist, who records everyday sounds such as footsteps, wrinkling paper and people typing on their keyboard.
