This girl got stood-up so went on a date with herself and Snapchatted the whole thing

A 21-year-old student from Scotland got stood-up by a guy so she decided to take herself on a date instead - and Snapchatted the whole thing.

Aymie-Michelle Black (Mimi) last week decided to go on a date with a guy she had been chatting to online for a few months, however after she spent an hour journey getting to the destination, she soon realised he was standing her up.

Instead of wallowing in self-pity and despair, Mimi decided to take herself on the girliest date ever, which included McDonalds, lingerie shopping and cocktails. That sounds like our kind of date.

Mimi, a Scottish student of Fashion Design, got stood-up and decided to Snapchat the whole thing.

"99.9% sure I've just got ready, travelled for a date and I am being stood up. Will keep you all updated, it's bound to be a funny story," Mimi said in a Twitter post, which attracted a lot of attention.

"He stood me up. He never called, never messaged. I sat on my own waiting, making excuses for him, he couldn't even make one for me.

"This guy has stood me up twice before but after insisting we went for dinner since Saturday, I agreed last night and he just never showed up."

Mimi went on to claim that it was "humiliating" that she spent time and money getting to the date and he didn't even call or text her to say he wasn't coming.

"So after being stood up... I bought loads of lingerie, had a McDonald's, a few cocktails and a chocolate sundae all on my own. It was fab," she said.

However the feisty Fashion Design student wasn't going to let the man in question get away with it and called him out.

"I called him out on it, he gave me 10 different illogical excuses but said he called it off by NOT texting to call it off. LOL???," she said.

"He turned it all around on me because we hadn't agreed a 'meeting place' yet, so I was the bad one for going to Glasgow for 6 like arranged.

"Favourite part was when he said 'you didn't text me, you didn't confirm' after my last message was 'Okay 6pm! Text me tomorrow!' ????? what?"

Her series of Tweets soon went viral, with hundreds of people coming to her defense and slamming the man who stood her up.

"He's an idiot but hey sounds like it worked in your favor anyways...Nobody needs those type of people in their lives," one Tweeter said.

"This is literally what it means to stay positive in bad situations," another said.

However it wasn't all positive and Mimi, who has set up a blog about mental health, revealed she received a lot of hate after thousands shared her story online.

“As it was distributed on Facebook, I felt my stomach drop as I looked at what can only be explained as a sea of negative comments attacking how I look or how I seem ‘attention seeking’,” Mimi wrote on her blog.

“What’s most upsetting is those who comment that I must be desperate to get married, a prostitute, a complete airhead or someone who just wants to so desperately be famous.

"None of which I am and I could deal without the grief. I expected a few giggles with my followers, not to be thrown into viral territory, in hindsight that is very naive.”

She continued: “This story wasn’t about a boy or bitterness, it was about feeling good about yourself even when the circumstances can make you feel pretty low.

“You can hang me out to dry and let people rip at me with their scathing comments, but for the first time in months I was able to go out on my own and feel like a normal girl – something I can rarely feel.

“I felt like a real girl, not the ill girl. So please don’t take my positivity away. I felt confident, sexy, sassy and happy – and I’d never want any other woman to feel any differently.”
