Fisherman's close call with a great white shark

This spear fisherman got more than he bargained for when setting off on this adventure.

Surfer Brett Levington was doing some spearfishing with three mates when a four-metre, a.k.a. very big, great white shark swam right for them.

Instead of swearing their heads off and freaking out like any regular, nature-respecting individual, this guy called it 'beautiful and graceful' describing the whole encounter as 'memorable'.

Considering it looks like the shark would have gone for him if he hadn't jabbed it in the head with his speargun, this seems like a pretty impressive reaction.

“I poked it in its head in the nose where all the receptors are,” said Levington.

He said he struggled to turn his GoPro camera on to film the experience but only managed a few shaky seconds of footage.

Presumably very annoyed after all that poking, the king of the sea changed direction, circling the squad from below. Side note: this isn’t a great sign and means you probably should get out of the water. In the smarted move of the day - they did.
