A British council staffer insulted Prince George and everyone is up in arms about it

If you work for any kind of public office, there’s an unwritten rule that you should try not to slam anyone higher up.

Unfortunately a member of the British Council seemingly didn’t get the memo, because she just insulted Prince George of all people (the scandal!).

Angela Gibbins, head of global estates at the charity that “promotes the U.K. and the English language” around the world called the three-year-old “rich”, “advantaged” and “living on public money” on her Facebook page.

“I know he’s only two years old, but Prince George already looks like a f****** d***head,” she wrote.

“White privilege. That cheeky grin is the innate knowledge he’s royal, rich, advantaged and will never know any difficulties or hardships in life. Let’s find photos of 3 [year-old] Syrian refugee children and see if they look alike, eh?

“I don’t believe the royal family have any place in a modern democracy, least of all when they live on public money.”

If you’re wondering why a seemingly ‘private’ post caused such a commotion, it’s because the British Council has a royal charter and is patroned by the Queen herself, who most likely ordered this statement:

“This comment was made on a private social media account,” the council said immediately after Gibbins’ Facebook post was discovered. “It has absolutely no connection to the British Council and does not represent our views and values.”
