Jools Oliver hits back at post-baby body shaming

Jools Oliver gave birth to her fifth child, River Rocket, five weeks ago and now she’s been attacked on social media for being ‘naturally slim’.

The 41-year-old posted a photo to Instagram looking down at her pants with the caption, “Thank you to the fab girls @aceandjig finally ‘almost’ fitting into these gorgeous trousers so comfy post little baby and beyond. @nadianarain think we have finally found our perfect trousers.”

The seemingly innocent photo caused quite a stir on Instagram, with women saying Jools was making them feel worse about themselves posting photos like this.

After seeing a “newspaper article” about the photo a woman took to social media to leave a comment.

“I don’t usually comment on such things!” she first wrote, “I am currently pregnant with my 2nd baby. And every minute of every day I’m scrutinising my weight etc…” she continued.

The commenter then went on to say that images like this, “by naturally slim women,” don’t help with her weight struggles.

“Shouldn’t you be more concerned about bonding with your child rather than how quickly you fit back into your jeans?” She asked.

The angry woman then questioned Jools on how she thought this sort of image would help other women who don’t “snap back” so quickly.

Jamie Oliver’s wife was quick to hit back with her response.

“Honestly it’s about the trousers!!! I didn’t even think about the weight!!!” She wrote.

Jools then continued to say that she still has “heaps to lose” and that her t-shirt "hides a lot."

The mother-of-five explained that she posted the image as a shout-out to the “lovely girls who sent me the trousers nothing more.”

She also said that the pants were elasticated so probably would have fit her at 9 months pregnant.

Her final request to the angry woman was simple.

“Please next time if I irritate you just unfollow me, it was just meant to be a nice pic of a pair of good [trousers] but has to turn in to a weight issue seems a bit weird to me and a total shame!”
