Gina Liano: What to do if you want to date your bestie’s dad

I’m a big believer that when it comes to love, you can be with whoever you want. Well, whoever you want except your friend’s dad, that is.

Sorry ladies, but there’s something about a friend going out with a parent that has a bit of “ew” factor to it.

Chances are your friend isn’t really going to like the idea very much and you’re on the right track to destroying your relationship with them.

It might be an idea to reverse the situation and think: how would you feel if your pal wanted to date your dad? Would you be open to the idea?

Also, I’m all for age being nothing but a number, but if you and your BFF’s dad realise the attraction is mutual and you want to make a go of it, you really need to ask yourself what you can get out of that kind of relationship.

If you’re in your thirties and he’s in his sixties, you’ll still be a young one in 10 year’s time… but he won’t.

If you’re in this situation and hesitating, I say that’s a dead giveaway and you’re being cautious for a reason. It might be that you have to choose between your friend or their father. I’ve got a feeling you won’t be able to have both.
