Pregnant Olivia Wilde shames selfish subway riders

If you were heavily, heavily pregnant and on a subway, bus, or train, you’d expect someone to offer you their seat, right?

According to a recent tweet by Olivia Wilde, nope — people can be pretty darn selfish.

Olivia is expecting her second child with fiancé Jason Sudeikis, and when she recently rode the subway, no one offered her a place to sit.

So she took to Twitter to call out her fellow passengers.

“NBD, able-bodied riders who won’t give your seat to a GIANT preggo,” Olivia tweeted. “I’ll just stand riiiiight next to your head and pray I go into labor. “

Other Twitter users replied to the tweet with similar sentiments such as, “Stand over their shoes and hope your water breaks,” and, “I’m a big fan of sustained eye contact and repeatedly jostling them with my belly.”

Several others said they’d had similar experiences themselves. One user tweeted, “I’m 39 weeks pregnant still commuting and I basically have to stand the whole [ride] into the city! It’s disgusting!!”

Another wrote, “I rode the A my entire pregnancy, these clowns raced me to seats. I never got a seat. Even the day I went into labor on train.”

One even recalled, “One time I only got a seat bc I fainted. Another time, I stood in front of 3 men who didn’t move. #jerks.”

However, one response reminded Olivia not to judge outward appearances.

“I would give my seat to you anytime. You can’t judge who is able bodied tho. Heart conditions/cancer/ME etc are unseen.”
