Prince William comes to the rescue as dignitary falls over

If we ever fall over a bollard, can someone please call Prince William to rescue us?

Well that's exactly what happened when 72-year-old Jonathan Douglas-Hughes, vice lord-lieutenant of Essex, was introducing Prince William and Kate Middleton to local dignitaries over the weekend.

As the pleasantries were happening on the royals' tour of Harlow, Douglas-Hughes, who was wearing his ceremonial uniform complete with sword, fell backwards over a bollard and straight onto his back, right in front of the royals.

Prince William, who works as an air ambulance pilot, was right on the scene, picking the elderly man off the concrete ground and back up onto his feet.

Kate on the other hand looked in shock as she stood to the side, before asking the man if he had hurt himself.

According to onlookers, Douglas-Hughes turned to Prince William and said "sorry about that", to which he replied: "No, it's all right".

Prince William rushed over to help the man up.

Thankfully, Douglas-Huges was not hurt and was able to continue escorting the Royals during their visit.

"I'm fine thank you," he told reporters after the event.

"The Duke was very concerned but I reassured him I was perfectly all right."
