Lola Berry: “People were calling me a drug pig, a bulimic, an ice addict”

She’s the bubbly wellness guru described as one of Australia’s favourite nutritionists but I’ve unearthed some dirt on the lovely Lola Berry… that’s not her real name.

“[He] was like, ‘I can’t be sleeping with someone with the first name as my sister, can I please call you Lola?’"she laughs. “And it stuck. Nobody calls me Lauren.”

Currently in the middle of shooting book number eight, the yoga teacher and owner of Melbourne's Happy Place health cafe had a huge wake up call last December when she announced plans to release a weight loss plan called “Stop being a fat b*tch”.

“I’d eaten too much that day, probably binged on a whole block of Marvellous Creations… and that was what I was saying to myself,” she explained.

“The name came out… I got called a drug pig, a bulimic, an ice addict, a c**t, a whore.”

“The best way to describe this lesson is when you’ve got books out and you’re successful, everyone wants to be your mate,” Lola confesses.

“But when this happened, it was like someone turned the light on and cockroaches just went running. There were about five mates who had my back."

"I'm so grateful for that lesson because it gives me strength and self belief to do what's right in my heart. Sometimes that's going to work, and sometimes that's not."
