The one royal tradition Kate won’t ever do

We can all safely agree that when it comes to being one of the royal family, Kate Middleton hasn’t put one foot wrong since she married Prince William six years ago.

From her perfectly poised public appearances to winning hearts around the world as she opens up about her parenting struggles, Kate fits the high-pressure royal bill perfectly.

But there’s one thing easygoing Kate has continued to refuse to do during her whole relationship with Wills.

It’s something her husband has done his entire life, and a tradition the Queen and other members of the royal family absolutely adore.

"Kate doesn't ride, purely because didn't do it growing up," author of 'Kate: A Biography' Marcia Moody told Town & Country, earlier this year.

"William and Harry were taught from an early age, but the only time they ride now is for polo—they don't go off on hacks like the queen always has."

While Kate is often seen on the sidelines at polo games, or supporting Willls’ cousin and Olympic rider Zara Tindall at competitions, Kate has never been seen in the saddle herself.

Although some have speculated Kate might be allergic to horses, the Duchess has told others in the past she’s been learning to ride. But the lessons clearly haven’t caught on.

Despite this, the mum-of-two isn’t letting her equine aversion stand in the way of her children’s hobbies, revealing to paralympic rider Natasha Baker her one-year-old daughter Charlotte is a fan.

“I asked her how the children were and she said Charlotte is really enjoying her riding, which is great to hear and I said we may see her here on a line-up in 20 years’ time,’” Natasha told Horse& Hound.

”She emphasised that Charlotte has this passion about horses and although she doesn’t echo it, she’ll do her best to champion and encourage it.”
