Prince George’s cousin is in his class at school

Turns out Prince George wasn’t all alone on his first day of school because his cousin is in the same class as him!

He appeared as nervous as any other four-year-old on his first day of school at Thomas’s Battersea in London but he wasn’t the only royal in attendance for their first day at the prep school.

George is reportedly in the same class as his distant cousin Maud Windsor, daughter of Lord Frederick Windsor and Lady Sophie Windsor.

How exactly are the pair “distantly” related?

Well, four-year-old Maud is the first grandchild of Prince Michael of Kent and his wife, the Princess of Kent.

The Prince of Kent is a first cousin twice removed from Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William’s grandmother making Maud Windsor the distant cousin of Prince George.

In pictures that have surfaced online, Maud was dressed in the same uniform as George albeit in a knee-length navy skirt, a crest embellished cardigan and a cute red bow in her hair.

Lord Windsor is seen dropping his daughter off for her first day in the photos.

Lord and Lady Windsor, Maud’s parents, regularly socialise within the royal inner-circle including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The couple were present at the Queen’s official 90th birthday celebrations last year at the Mall appearing on the Buckingham Palace balcony with Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, Camilla Parker-Bowles and other royals.

They also attended the celebrations this year.

Wearing his tiny but dapper uniform, Prince George was accompanied by dad Prince William on the big day.

But mum Kate Middleton was not in attendance, presumbably still suffering badly from hyperemesis gravidarum – severe morning sickness – which can cause extreme illness and hospitalisation.

Prince George was met instead by the Head of Lower House at Thomas's Battersea, Helen Haslem.

The $30,000 per year school has a major emphasis on kindness amongst pupils.

On the school’s website the headmaster Simon O’Malley states that the school’s core values are “courtesy, confidence, humility and learning to be givers, not takers.”

Pupils at the school are expected to turn into “flourish as conscientious and caring citizens of the world” and the school will “equip pupils for life in modern Britain.”

The prep school also discourages students to from having any best friends to avoid any pupils being left out.

It has been an exciting week for the little royal after Kensington Palace announced another little sibling for George and his little sister Princess Charlotte is on the way.

Both George’s father and uncle, Prince Harry attended Wetherby Preparatory School in Marylebone London and were accompanied by their parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana on their first days.

Kensington Palace posted some sweet throwback pictures of William and Harry attending Wetherby earlier today.
