Princess Mary's shock at bombshell TV tell-all

There’s nothing we love better than a deep dive into the secret life of royals, and it looks like Princess Mary and the Danish family could be coming under the microscope following news of a bombshell TV series delving into the past of Prince Frederik.

If you’ve been glued to the screen while The Crown ruthlessly picks apart Queen Elizabeth’s marriage to Prince Philip, you’re not the only one.

According to reports, Danish director Christian Tafdrup decided Crown Prince Frederik’s life could make for even better TV after being inspired by the Netflix series.

"A TV series about Fred is a much better idea," Now To Love reports Christian saying.

"He was born into all of this and he didn't want to be that man."

While there’s been no official word from the Danish palace over the reports, no doubt the spotlight won't be particularly welcome – especially considering Frederik’s wife of 13 years, Princess Mary's notorious privacy when it comes to their family.

Reports claim Danish magazine Se og Hør has seen the script, with viewers treated to scenes including drug use and threesomes.

The show won’t be short of juicy fodder to feature, with Prince Frederik known for dating a string of high-profile women.

From model Malou Aamund who he dated until 1993, to Danish lingerie model Katja Storkholm, who he was rumoured to have proposed to, and a stint with pop singer Maria Montell before he famously met Mary in a Sydney night club in 2000, it’s probably the last thing the mum-of-four wants revisited.

If it’s any consolation, Christian claims there will be a heavy focus on Prince Frederik’s reluctance to take on his royal role, and his clashes with mum Queen Margrethe.

"It is a mother-son drama about two different people," he said.
