Why Prince Charles could miss royal baby’s arrival
He’s spoken about how important it is to bond with his grandchildren when they’re young, but Prince Charles might be forced to miss the arrival of his newest grandchild when it arrives in just a few weeks.
As Charles’ son Prince William prepares for the birth of his third child with Kate Middleton, it looks like work has trumped family when it comes to the new arrival.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall recently announced they are heading Down Under for a six-day Commonwealth Games and Australia tour, touching down in Brisbane on April 5.
But with Kate said to be giving birth in April, scheduling conflicts mean it might be days before Charles meets the newest member of the royal family.
Although it’s not his first time welcoming a grandchild to the clan, Charles has raved about how his life changed after Kate and Wills became parents to George, four, and two-year-old Charlotte.
"It's a different part of your life,” said Charles.
“The great thing is to encourage them. Show them things to take their interest. My grandmother did that, she was wonderful.
“It is very important to create a bond when they are very young."
