Concerning security scare for Meghan and Prince Harry
Less than three months before they officially tie the knot, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had a terrifying security scare seemingly intended to threaten their relationship.
A suspicious envelope containing white powder was sent to the couple’s home at Kensington Palace on February 12.
The envelope was addressed to the couple, but opened by assistants, and is also said to have contained a racist note.
“Officers are also investigating an allegation of malicious communications which relates to the same package,” a spokesperson for London’s Metropolitan police said.
“It is being treated as a racist hate crime."
They also added that the matter is being investigated by their Counter Terrorism Command.
While at first it was feared that the white powder could be anthrax, subsequent analysis proved it was actually a banal substance.
Many members of the royal family live on the grounds of Kensington Palace, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Royal security are said to be so rocked by the scare that they’re re-evaluating security for Harry and Meghan’s May 19 wedding.
The couple are due to take a horse and carriage ride through the main street of Windsor after they say 'I do' at St George’s Chapel.
Both Harry and Meghan have had to publicly express their disappointment at racist commentary that has unfortunately circulated since news of their relationship broke in 2016.
Meghan has said it was ‘disheartening’ to see negative attention about her ethnicity in an interview last November, while Harry had to released a statement in 2016 denouncing “the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments”.
