Outrage over controversial Hitler socks

These Adolf Hitler socks made 'to bring order in the socks drawer' have been blasted by the Auschwitz Memorial for glorifying Nazi crimes.

Polish socks brand Nanushki have come under fire after they listed the "Adolf" socks on their online shop for $9.50

The Nazi Fuhrer covers the entire foot with his trademark haircut and toothbrush-style moustache and features a red tie and grey suit.

Bizarrely, the text with the ad glorifies the dictator as ‘a clever strategist’ and a ‘born leader’ who in his spare time 'draws a plan to conquer the world'.

Hitler's conquest plans do not stop at the world as according to the ad, the Fuhrer also wants ‘to bring order in the socks drawer’, which Nanushki warns he is ‘very effective’ at doing.

"Fear to think that there could be two of them,” the ad read.

The controversial socks triggered a fiery discussion in Poland as a bill was approved this month making it illegal to accuse the country of complicity in Nazi crimes, including the Holocaust.

The Auschwitz Memorial blasted the tasteless socks and description, saying it is repulsive to use ‘one of the biggest criminals in history for marketing purposes’.

It wrote that it is "difficult to even comment on" in the first place.

Nanushki has since renamed the Adolf socks to ‘Patrick’who is a ‘broker, financier, businessman and philanthropist’ - although the socks still clearly resemble Hitler.

An estimated 1.1 million Jews, Roma and other people deemed undesirable by the Nazis died at the Auschwitz-I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau concentration camps located in the Polish town of Oświęcim.
