The only time Princess Margaret ever saw the Queen cry

She’s the usually stoic head of the British royal family but even Queen Elizabeth lets her emotions show from time-to-time.

A new documentary has revealed the one time the Monarch’s late sister, Princess Margaret, ever saw her older sibling cry.

According to The Sun, Princess Josephine Loewenstein, who was a good friend of Margaret’s, said she confided in her about that moment.

“I’ve only seen my sister cry once,” she revealed Princess Margaret told her.

“It was when the Press put all the articles about her not getting on with Mrs Thatcher.”

Indeed, it’s been widely reported over the years that the former Prime Minister and the Queen didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye.

The complicated relationship between two of the most powerful women in the world played out in the public eye .

It’s also reported by The Sun that the Queen once snapped ‘Can’t that woman just sit down?’ once when Margaret Thatcher was staying with her at Balmoral.

Margaret was reportedly a big fan of the Queen’s but was intimidated by their weekly visits and it’s reported she would drink whiskey before, for a bit of Dutch courage.
