What's your food philosophy?
I like to think of food as fuel, for my brain and my body. And sometimes as a treat because otherwise life gets really dull.

What's your relationship with food like? Do you stress eat? Or do you have a fairly strict diet?
I’m an 80-20 person. Nah, more like 70-30 actually. But I don’t find the eating well 70 per cent hard. When I eat the right foods to fuel my body, I feel better. The 30 per cent of eat-whatever-I-like are well earned treats that I take much delight in; the perfect punctuation to the healthy stuff.

Many women feel guilty after they indulge - have you ever struggled with that?
No. If you’re gonna indulge, earn it then enjoy it. Guilt is not required.

What's your go-to snack?
Anything easy and tasty. Peanut butter on anything. Greek yoghurt with fruit because it’s high protein and calcium. I like Yoplait Bon Appetit specifically, the fruit is added so I don’t have to do it. Plus fruit, nuts, hummus and pita...

Tell us your typical day on a plate
Porridge with berries and some brown sugar, then toast and avocado and a latte later on. I usually have soup for lunch, snacks in the afternoon and fish or chicken and some vegies for dinner with wine. And most evenings I'll have some nibbling chocolate and herbal tea for supper.

What's the biggest challenge for you when it comes to making healthy food choices?
Putting in the effort to make it myself.

What five items would we always find in your fridge?
Greek yoghurt (about 40 tubs), feta, zucchini (I don’t know why, but they are in every second recipe these days), wine, good, salted French butter.

Do you have a favourite indulgence?
Pastries. A cracking almond croissant on a Saturday morning, for example.

What's your attitude towards exercise? Is it a chore or something that comes naturally?
I find it resets me mentally and is a terrific outlet for someone who is in her head for most of her work. Also, I like - need - to be strong as a mother of a toddler and someone who plans on giving birth again. (I have bunch of boring, ongoing pelvic/hip injuries from pregnancy.)

How has your attitude towards healthy eating and exercise changed since becoming a mum?
Well, the strength is one element certainly, but also I like to eat and cook nutritiously to set a good pattern and example for my boy.
