Lena Dunham posts very real bikini selfie

Lena Dunham continues to keep it real, posting a unique bikini selfie on Instagram stories.

When the Girls creator was trying on a two piece swimsuit, she decided to snap herself in the mirror to show her fans what it looks like, "when the Target swimsuit does a b*tch right."

Lena uploaded this picture of her in a red and black bikini top and leopard print bottoms to Instagram Stories and captioned it: “When the Target swimsuit does a b*tch right, Endo scars & all.”

Lena has opened up - again - about the reality of having Endometriosis.

Endometriosis, or Endo for short, “is when the tissue that lines the uterus grows in other places in the body,” Lena wrote in a Lenny Letter titled The Sickest Girl.

The 30-year-old actress often speaks out about her debilitating illness.

“A woman's menstrual cycle causes the tissue to swell and bleed, causing pain, fatigue, nausea, gastrointestinal problems, and a host of other physical symptoms,” she wrote.

For years now Lena has had to live like this. She’s tried various treatments to numb the symptoms.

"Out of tangible options, I started Lupron: monthly injections that shut down the production of estrogen and therefore the proliferation of endometrial cells where they shouldn't be," she wrote on Lenny Letter.

While Endometriosis is not life-threatening, Lena reveals in the Lenny Letter that she’s always wondered what it would be like to have, “a regular body” without all the nausea, heaviness and fatigue.

After experiencing so many symptoms out of her control for so long, Lena said she’s stronger than she’s ever been because of it.

“It's a sad and beautiful moment when you realise just how much you have let yourself endure,” she wrote.

While the actress has had to cancel some press tours for Girls and found it almost impossible to shoot some scenes due to Endometriosis, she says she’s “lucky enough to have support and backup from Jenni, Judd and the whole Girls gang," she wrote in an Instagram post
