Fitness trainer says her abs got in the way of giving birth

Fitness trainer and former Miss Universe finalist Chontel Duncan has claimed that her six-pack lead to complication during her labour.

In an Instagram post to her 573,000 followers, Chontel said Jeremiah had to be born via an emergency caesarean in March because her abs got in the way.

“They struggled to rip Jeremiah from my tummy as my abs locked him in super tight as I began vomiting during the operation,” she said.

“This is why my scar was cut up on my right side because the surgeon had to cut me further an use forceps to successfully get Jeremiah out. Perhaps a down side to a strong core.”

The founder of HIIT Australia said she hoped to give birth naturally but when it came to her labour day, she had to do anything to make sure Jeremiah was delivered safely.

"I felt like I failed... but then @sam_hiitaustralia reminded me of my mantra which was "to go through all means necessary so baby feels nothing" & I smiled. With confidence I signed the forms & within 20mins had my baby in my arms," she said.

The fitness star went on to claim that she would love to have three more children and "will always try for a vaginal birth with each one".

"So to all the women out there wearing a cesarean scar, I am VERY proud of what mine means & for the beautiful gift I received through mine. They are memories of the day we all became mummies," she ended the post.

Back in March Chontel faced major backlash after an old photo of her and a friend's "bump comparison" went viral.

The amazing photo, taken at the 21 week point in her pregnancy, shows the incredible difference between two expectant mothers, who are only four weeks apart.

At the time, she wrote: "I was surprised with a cute visit today from a friend Nat who is also expecting. Just being able to see someone in the flesh, rub her tummy, hear how incredible her journey has been so far, how healthy baby is & all the fun talk about kicks, food, names etc was beautiful."

"We worked out that we are 4 weeks apart, so our little ones will be the same age, same grade at school and potential best buds hehehehe..... Nat due start of March & I due end of March. Each women carries different and this most certainly doesn't mean one is doing something wrong or not healthy etc. We both have healthy growing babies & we both have had incredible pregnancies so far, feeling amazing & full of energy."

Despite the photo being taken back at the beginning of her pregnancy, it went viral just this week with the mum-to-be's positive message about all bumps being different overshadowed by negative comments.

Duncan took to Facebook to assure her fans that the negative comments weren't getting to her, with some worried the stress might be dangerous for her, as she was only weeks from her due date.
