Lara Bingle lashes out over kid's toy

She may keep her sons well out of the public eye but when it comes to their welfare, Lara Bingle isn’t afraid to speak up.

The 29-year-old Australian model, who is mum to two sons under the age of two, took to her Instagram page to slam manufacturers of popular kids toy, Sophie the Giraffe, after she found black mould inside.

The mum, who welcomed her second son into the world in October also tagged the Australian manufacturers of the toy.

The controversy around the toy, which is aimed at teething babies, came after one mum opened it up only to discover it was covered in mould.

Pediatric dentist and mum-of-two children under the age of three, Dana Chianese reportedly smelled something musty coming out of the a hole in the hollow toy.

“I decided to cut into Sophie out of curiosity and discovered a science experiment living inside,” Chianese told Good Housekeeping.

“Smelly, ugly mould living in my infant’s favourite chew toy!”

“It still hurts my heart to know that for months I allowed my babies to chew on mouldy toys,” she said.

“I no longer buy any chew toys with a hole or recommend any to my patients.”

However the warnings signs were there, as over a year ago a customer wrote on Amazon that the toy might not be as safe as it seems.

“Beware!! If you have a drooly baby, moisture will get in the hole and you’ll end up with mould!”
