Breatharian mum 'only ate five times' during pregnancy

Food - it’s a source of comfort for some, a way to socialise for others, but also a way to simply exist.

Not for ‘Breatharian’ couple Akahi Ricardo and Camila Castello who follow a ‘food-free lifestyle’ and believe they can sustain themselves using energy from the universe.

“Humans can easily be without food – as long as they are the connected to the energy that exists in all things and through breathing,” Camila told The Sun.

“For three years, Akahi and I didn’t eat anything at all and now we only eat occasionally like if we’re in a social situation or if I simply want to taste a fruit.”

For mum-of-two Camila, it’s a lifestyle choice she continued during her pregnancies with her five-year-old son and daughter, two.

“I was completely open to changing my food-free lifestyle when I first became pregnant because my child came first. But I just never felt hungry so I ended up practicing a fully Breatharian pregnancy,” she told the publication.

“I didn’t feel the need or desire to eat solid food during the entire nine months and so I only ate 5 times, all of which were in social situations.

“And I knew my son would be nourished enough by my love and this would allow him to grow healthily in my womb.

Camila credits her eating habits for helping her body bounce back into shape “immediately” after the births.

The couple, who are based in the US and South America, are Pranic Breatharian teachers who underwent the transformation of “living on light” in 2008.

“They rediscover[ed] a natural internal mechanic to nourish themselves through very unique and special conscious pranic breathing techniques, freeing them from any necessity including to eat solid foods and or drink liquids,” the Breatharian School website reads.

“This state was integrated permanently while they live[d] and travel[ed] through the Andean Mountains of Sudamerica in very close connection with nature and Gaia’s elements.”

The couple admit they haven’t imposed the eating principles on their young family and let their children eat whatever they want.
