Wrong-number texts leads to hilarious diet prank

A prankster pretended to be a female slimming group member for three months after receiving a wrong number text message from a slimming group.

Osian Midwinter, from Bangor in Wales, claims he first received a message mistaking him for a slimmer from the group, named Anna, in March 2016, but began his prank after the group leader texted him in May with helpful slimming advice.

The cheeky 28-year-old began a hilarious exchange which saw him go into graphic detail about how 'banana drinks' had left Anna stuck on the toilet all morning.

Miraculously, the absurd conversations never seemed to come up between the real Anna and her group leader – despite them clearly seeing each other regularly at meetings.

"I like to have a laugh I'm a joker and a bit of a pest, the replies just came naturally to me,” Osian said.

"I did feel bad when I was texting her but I would have never let it escalate to where someone would be getting their feelings hurt, I'm a joker but I'm not a horrible person.

"I don't know how the texts haven't come up in person [between the group leader and Anna] because the messages are pretty ridiculous.

"In one of them I even messaged to say I'd pay a fee so I don't know how she didn't realise, unless Anna coincidently paid that week."

His messages from this year include him declaring that he'll be treating himself to Domino's, discussing how his toilet habits will help him lose weight and predicting that he won a slimming competition.

After stringing his victim along with a mock sob story about how he was quitting, Osian finally ended the charade by sending a picture of himself with his thumb up and an explanation.

"At least in the future if I decide to lose some weight I know who to go to for slimming advice,” he said.

“She seems like a really lovely lady and very supportive of her group members."
