Inspiring 10-year-old beats breast cancer

A 10-year-old girl who was reportedly the youngest girl in the US to be diagnosed with the condition has faced it head on and won.

Utah girl Chrissy Turner was just eight-years-old when she found a hard lump under her right nipple, which was too sore to touch.

She went straight to her mother, who brought her to doctors who initially thought it was nothing to worry about.

However devastatingly, an ultrasound showed that the young girl had breast cancer and according to People, she was the youngest ever person to be diagnosed with the condition in the US.

“It was the hardest thing we’ve ever gone through as a family,” her mother Annette told People at the time.

Annette is a cervical cancer survivor and Chrissy’s dad, Troy Turner, had treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

In December 2016, Chrissy had a mastectomy where surgeons removed her right breast.

Now the 10-year-old is healthy and back playing with her friends at school.

However her mum says she realises how huge it was to go through such a big health issue at such a young age.

“She knows that what she went through is rare and that there’s a bigger picture working here,” Annette said.

“She’s chosen to grow from it.”
