Christina Applegate had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed
Christina Applegate has revealed she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed to lower her risk of developing cancer again.
The actress, who has previously undergone a double mastectomy after battling breast cancer in 2008, carries the BRCA1 gene, which can trigger cancer development.
Speaking to Today.com the 45-year-old revealed she had the surgery just two weeks ago.
“My cousin passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008. I could prevent that. That’s how I’ve taken control of everything,” she said.
Christina said undergoing the surgery was a “relief” but she does fear her six-year-old daughter, Sadie, may also have the BRCA1 gene.
“The chances that my daughter is BRCA positive are very high,” she said.
That is why the Bad Moms actress ensures her daughter eats “the cleanest foods” and, by choice, Sadie “is a vegetarian and practically vegan”.
Christina is also a vegetarian and following her 2008 cancer battle eats an impeccably clean diet.
She also revealed that she is now “really diligent” in what she feeds her body and only eats organic food.
Christina is currently married to musician Martyn LeNoble. They tied the knot in 2013 and had daughter Sadie together in 2011.
