Mum catches paedophile targeting daughter

A mum has revealed how she posed as her own 13-year-old daughter to catch out a suspected paedophile who was trying to lure her into his sick S&M games.

Kelly Carberry, 34, had decided to check her daughter's Facebook profile for the first time and was shocked when a message popped up saying 'do you promise to keep your mouth shut?'

Knowing something wasn’t right, Kelly went along with the messages as if she was her daughter Chloe-Marie.

The person messaging her, who Kelly claims was pretending to be a girl on Facebook, continued to reply and attempted to lure the schoolgirl into playing out his sick sadomasochistic fantasies.

"I couldn't believe it. This morning I thought I'd check her Facebook profile and four messages appeared from this weird person,” Kelly, from Lancashire in the UK, said.

"He said 'are you on your own' and 'go in the room and shut your door'.”

He also asked: “Do you promise to keep your mouth closed about what is said on here, staying in here only and you cannot tell anyone else okay?” before Kelly confronted him and asked what was going on.

After the shock of realising how easily predators can groom children via social media, Kelly went online to warn others against the man who was talking to her daughter.

"With the comments I've received since posting online, I'd say he could have been talking to at least 100 children,” she said.

"He's deleted two of his accounts but I think he had at least three originally. I want to warn other children and their parents about this man."

A spokesperson from Lancashire Police said: "We can confirm that a report has been made and we are investigating it."

Kelly added that she’d previously spoken to her daughter about being safe online, but that she’d accepted the man’s friend request anyway.

"I've told her what's gone on. She hadn't even messaged him back though which is good,” Kelly said.

"I'm going to have to keep everything checked on social media from now on.”
