Mum of four kids under five claims contraception 'failed' her

A mum-of-four claims she's so fertile she fell pregnant with three of her children while on three different types of contraception.

Becky Gower and her husband Ed now have four children under five despite being extra-careful with contraception when it failed them three times.

The 29-year-old fell pregnant with Dylan, now aged five, while she was taking the combined pill and just one year later she was pregnant again.

Becky went back onto the contraceptive pill after that, taking the mini pill religiously at the same time every night, as directed.

"We had two perfect little boys, so I went on to the mini-pill, because I was still breast-feeding Archie and the 'mini' is the only pill you can use if you are,” she said.

But she fell pregnant for a third time with baby Finn, now two, within a matter of weeks.

"At this point we desperately felt like this was our last baby,” she said.

"So because all of the other pills that I had used didn't work, I realised that it would probably be better to just use condoms.”

However after one split, she was forced to rely on taking the morning-after pill and she was stunned to discover she was pregnant again with Cora, now one.

Cora was born in June last year, and completed the family of six – for now at least.

"I've tried everything now but nothing seems to work – my body must just reject the hormones,” Becky said.

Now, the family-of-six have decided enough is enough, and Ed is planning on having a vasectomy to stop their family growing any further.

Despite sticking to condoms, Becky still gets worried that her contraception will fail her and is looking to find a more permanent alternative.

"Using condoms is fine at the moment, but then if it splits again that will become a problem,” Becky said.

"Being a mother-of-four, my body has been through a lot – I don't think I need to put any more hormones into it really.

"I'm not willing to go back to other contraceptive methods, especially when they don't work for me.”
