One mum has given an honest account of bringing up adorably cheeky triplets.

Kate Smith was in complete shock when she was told she was expecting triplets in April 2014.

"By the time I was 31 weeks and 5 days, I looked as though I could've exploded, my stomach was enormous,” Kate said of her pregnancy.

"Me and Gerard (her husband) were petrified about how our lives would map out with triplets but after a few weeks we set up a structured routine.

"It was like a military operation but now they're older it has become easier in some ways.”

Make-up artist Kate said she and her husband were “hoping for one baby” and they got three, however she couldn’t imagine life without them now.

While she may have settled into parenting triplets well, Kate admits a lot of things have changed around the house.

"I haven't got any cutlery left now as they've managed to smash it all, we have mostly plastic plates and bowls now,” she said.

"My beautiful house is slowly being ruined as they stain carpets with chocolate and smoother the sofa in any cream they can find.

"Me and Gerard have to ensure everything is kept up high as they get into anything and everything.

"I often know when they've done something as I can hear Dolly's giggle and it's normally a sign that they’re up to no good."

Kate has her hands full, and can’t even begin to start cleaning her home until the triplets have gone to bed.

With the trio all sleeping in the same room, Kate will often find them throwing their dummies at one another and giggling as they refuse to sleep.

The triplets, who have two older siblings Louie, 11, and Tia, three, don't seem to be showing signs of slowing down anytime soon.

"When you've got one baby it's easy to watch them constantly but when there's three, there is always one trying to start trouble,” she said.

"They aren't bothered about playing with their toys, they'd much rather run riot at home and jump all over the furniture.”
