Warnings as fidget spinners catch fire

They’re the nifty little low-tech toy touted as an antidote to ADHD, helping kids everywhere pass the time.

But after incidents of choking already known, a new warning has now been issued against fidget spinners.

Two reports have come out of America, of the Bluetooth fidget spinners exploding while charging.

These are the ‘pimped’ kind of spinners compete with LED lights and even on-board speakers, Slate reports.

One incident occurred in Michigan, where a woman said the gadget caught fire while charging on her bookshelf.

In Alabama, a child had to throw their fidget spinner into the sink after it caught fire while charging as well.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission released a statement last week.

“Like any battery-operated product, consumers should be present and pay attention to their devices while charging them,” it read.

“It is important to use the charging cable that either comes with the fidget spinner or one that has the correct connections for the device. Charging cables are NOT interchangeable.”
