Mother dies hours after giving birth to triplets
A mother has tragically passed away just hours after giving birth to baby boy triplets.
New Zealand native Chervonne Magaoa experienced complications from a rare condition after undergoing an emergency Caesarean section to deliver her babies.
The Hawaiian raised mother had gone in for a pre-birth check up last Thursday and was told by doctors at the Kapi’olani Medical Centre in Honolulu she needed to undergo an emergency C-section.
She and her husband Martin had conceived their triplets via IVF treatment after struggling to have children following the birth of their first son, six-year-old Tanner.
The 34-year-old’s father Bishop Hyran Smith revealed to the New Zealand Herald that Chervonne’s unexpected death was due to a rare medical condition which caused serious complications following the birth of the baby boy triplets.
He told the publication that “every was fine” initially but “then she got a complication.”
“She had an amniotic fluid embolism and that was the cause of death. The doctor said statistics-wise, it only happens to one in 100,000 [women], so it was a rare event,” Smith added.
The rare medical condition which caused Chervonne’s death occurs when amniotic fluid enters the bloodstream.
Amniotic fluid surrounds the foetus throughout a woman’s pregnancy and comprises of hair, urine, faeces and other cells from the baby or babies.
When that fluid enters the mother’s bloodstream it can result in excessive bleeding and heart failure.

The baby boy triplets were all delivered safely and are named Aayden, Blaise and Carson.
Family friends of the Magaoa’s have created a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for Martin as he faces raising his four sons without his wife by his side.
So far, over $47,000 of the $50,000 goal has been raised to help the family.
