Record-breaking 6kg baby born in Australia
A Queensland couple has welcomed a 6kg baby girl into the world – the biggest bub to ever be born at Rockhampton Hospital.
Speaking to Be, dad Mason Macdonald said his partner Makaela Kirkby is doing “awesome” since welcoming Maisie Lily MacDonald into the world.

Maisie arrived one week early but Mason, whose first daughter Aubree Rose weighed over 5kg when she was born, said the couple had no idea she would be this big.
“I knew she was big but not this big,” Mason told Be.
“Mum and bub are awesome. Makaela is a little bit sore as you can expect after having a surgery.”
Mason said they are both “over the moon” at the new arrival.
“Our first was 5.144kgs so I thought she'd be around that or smaller so I didn't expect her to be bigger,” Mason said.
“Makaela had a growth scan about 37 weeks and the estimated weight was just under five kilos so about 10 pound.”
The proud dad took to his Facebook page to announce Maisie’s birth on Monday.
“I'd like to introduce Maisie Lily Macdonald to everyone, weighing in at 13 pound 4 ounces (6.020 kilograms) claiming the record of biggest baby born at Rockhampton hospital. Welcome to the world and the family ya massive newborn,” he wrote.
“I wanna arm wrestle,” one friend wrote.
“Such glorious chubby cheeks,” another said.
