Granny finds 'f*** you' note inside grandson's present

A granny was left red-faced after buying her three-year-old grandchild a kids' hand warmer from Poundland only for it to allegedly have a note in it saying 'f**k you' to the tot.

Vanessa Maddieson, 52, from Northern Ireland, gave the item to little Elliot, three, as a gift when visiting him on September 9th after picking it up from a store in Londonderry.

However, Elliot's 23-year-old mum Ayesha Maddieson, was left fuming when she apparently discovered the secret message hidden inside the packaging written by a 'stupid idiot'.

The grandmother-of-two had picked up the hand warmers from the reduced section in the Poundland shop so she was aware there could be a minor defect, but never thought this could include a rude note.

Mum-of-two Ayesha claims it is 'appalling' that Poundland didn't thoroughly check the item before putting it back on sale and is thankful her child isn't old enough to read the naughty word.

"Some stupid idiot obviously thought it was funny and clever. I was surprised. Why would someone want to do that?,” Vanessa said.

"It is unacceptable. It's not a child's handwriting. It is a kid's hand warmer. It isn't something an adult is going to have.

"You shouldn't have to take anything out of the packaging to check it but they should be double checking it if it's on the discount shelf."

The full-time mum noticed there was some writing on the item before taking the item out to have a closer look and when she opened the packaging she ran downstairs to show the gran the 'appalling' note.

"If something is taken back you should check why it was returned. It is quite appalling really that they didn't,” Ayesha, from Aylsham, in Northwich, said.

"I was shocked. I'm glad my son can't read yet. He could have learnt the word. Who knows who could have picked it up if she had given it to him.

"If he had taken it to nursery then who knows what they would have thought. My mum couldn't believe it. She was quite shocked."

Poundland were contacted for comment.
